Pepper moaned in fear, running down the alleyway, bared feet on the concrete. The streets were lit dimly by low bulbs and there were shadows, so many shadows where they could hide - where he could hide. She didn't stop to think of who he was, she just knew he couldn't catch her, oh god she could not let him catch her now! She tugged at her shirt, trying to pull it back up in spite of the rips and tears in the cloth, and her long skirt was shredded all aound, rips showing up to her thighs.
She could feel eyes on her in the night, eyes filled with fury and oh so intense. Pepper was gasping for breath as she tried to find a place to hide. A doorway, or perhaps one of the tunnels or.. there! Yes, that was it, the park. There were several places she could hide from him there, either by getting lost in the woodland, or ducking behind the boulders.
Racing across the street she fled into the deepening darkness of the thick trees.
